iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is coming!
The iPhone 6 is coming! A lot of of cool functions and features have been added and I am sure most of the Apple fan boys already preordered their phone! ;]
iPhone 6 changes iTunes Connect
But these are not only good news for us app marketers and developers. First of all iTunes Connect got a cool refresh in terms of style and usability. To be honest, you cannot deny that it looks a little bit inspired by Google Play Developer Console.
It takes some time but I promise you, you will start loving the new design and UI of the new iTunes Connect! It is really clean, has less useless abstraction and a lot of freshness!
iOS8 & iPhone 6 enable App Videos
A cool feature which has been added, you are now able to upload videos to your app details page. Not new for the Google Players out there, but new for Apple users. Check out this post on Apptamin if you want to get more information about iOS8 & App preview videos.
New Screenshot sizes for iPhone 6 at iTunes Connect
But on the other hand, there is a lot of work to do for us! Due to the reason that the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus have new sizes and guess what! Yes you are right, it would have been too easy if they had the same scale like the iPhone 5 screenshots.
The only good news in that context is, that the iPhone 6 screenshot size does scale with the iPhone 6 Plus screenshot size! Hooray!
So if you release a new app you should prepare the following screenshots:
iPhone 3 (3.5 Inch): 640 x 920
iPhone 4+5 (4 Inch): 640 x 1136
iPhone 6 (4.7 Inch): 750 x 1334
iPhone 6 Plus (5.5 Inch): 1242 x 2208 (you need the screenshot in this resolution, the phone scales them down to 1080 x 1920)
iPad: 1536 x 2048
Different sizes for Videos
Ok different sizes for screenshots is quite annoying but it can be done within some minutes additional work. But you also have to upload the App preview videos in different sizes, and this is where it gets really tricky! Rendering movies, even if they only have a small size takes time. And rendering them 5 times in different resolutions, will take a lot of time! So be sure to calculate this time for your next launch to avoid negative surprises!
